Learning from an amazing mother daughter pair.
I had a wonderful time! It was very fun to learn how to do furoshiki and tenugui. The tea ceremony part was very educational and interesting. Both mother and daughter were so kind and sweet! I loved talking with them and learning from them. I was a bit late because I got lost but they were fine with that! I felt right at home with them and would highly recommend this workshop to anyone who wants to learn more about the tea ceremony process or furoshiki and tenugui. You will have amazing teachers if you take this workshop!

Tenugui-Furoshiki Wrapping Class & Tea Ceremony in Asakusa
Historic shrines and temples, sumptuous food, and the tallest broadcasting tower in the world Tokyo Skytree, the old town of Asakusa has plenty to offer. Your experience takes place at a chic KIMONO accessory store in the town run by me and my daughter! The store looks onto the Sumida River along which you can enjoy a leisurely stroll, while looking at sailing YAKATABUNE (houseboats) or taking pictures with Skytree in the background.
Learn FUROSHIKI/TENUGI (Japanese traditional wrapping cloth) wrapping techniques and enjoy a casual tea ceremony in the old town of Asakusa filled with historical charm! FUROSHIKI and TENUGUI are both traditional Japanese cloths with various colors and patterns that had long been part of people's lives. FUROSHIKI as a wrapping cloth, TENUGUI as a hand towel or a head wrapper, before the influx of Western-style towels and plastic bags. But in recent years, they are making a big comeback with modern twists as makeshift bags, smartphone covers and much much more. Choose between FUROSHIKI and TENUGUI, and I will teach you stylish yet practical wrapping techniques, while introducing you to the history and evolution of FUROSHIKI and TENUGUI. You can utilize these wrapping techniques with any mid-sized cloth such as a scarf, so do try at home and add a little Japanese flair to your everyday life! We'll then move to a Japanese-style TATAMI room to enjoy a relaxed TEA CEREMONY experience. Here, I will teach you the basic rules and manners of TEA CEREMONY, but don't get too caught up in them. Let's just have a fun time together, whisking MATCHA green tea and savoring the delicate taste of it!
