Shabutsu Buddhist Image Tracing in Tokyo
If you are looking to have a little deeper cultural experience in Japan than simply visiting temples and shrines, why don't you join this 2-hour workshop and experience shabutsu at a monk bar in Tokyo's pop culture center Nakano? Shabutsu is the practice of tracing images of Buddhist icons such as bodhisattva to purify the mind and accumulate merit, which has quietly been gaining popularity as a means of meditation due to its highly soothing effect. At first, you might get a bit intimidated as the Buddhist images look quite intricate, but need not worry! It's super easy even for first timers as you simply have to trace over the outlines of the image underneath. When you focus your mind on each stroke of the brush, you'll start to find yourself at complete peace, creating a perfect opportunity to reflect on yourself, as well as to renew your appreciation for others. This is a perfect breather to relax and find peace of mind during your hectic travel schedule.
Since this workshop takes place at a bar, you will be treated to a free glass of original cocktail as well!
